Property of Carbon Compounds- Isomerism

Isomerism Property of Carbon :

Organic compounds with same molecular formula but different chemical and physical properties are called isomers. This phenomenon is called isomerism. The difference in properties of these compounds is due to the difference in their structures is known as structural isomerism. E.g. Following two structural isomers are possible for butane, an alkane with four C-atoms (C_4H_1_0).Similarly, we have  pentane ,C_5H_1_2:

The structural isomers can be of two types:

1. Chain/Nuclear/skeleton isomerism:In this type of isomerism compounds have same molecular formula but different  arrangement of carbon chain. For eg:

C_4H_1_0 , ,C_5H_1_2, C_4H_8, C_5H_8 etc.
